Kentucky residents can register to vote online, by mail, or in person. However, Kentucky does not offer same-day voter registration, so be sure to register before the deadline.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be a resident of Kentucky.
- Be at least 18 years old by Election Day.
- Not be a convicted felon, unless civil rights have been restored.
- Not have been judged mentally incompetent by a court.
Registration Methods:
- Online Registration:
- Register online through the Kentucky Voter Information Portal.
- You’ll need a valid Kentucky driver’s license or state ID to complete the online registration.
- By Mail:
- Download and complete the Kentucky Voter Registration Card.
- Mail the form to your county clerk’s office. A list of county clerks can be found on the Kentucky State Board of Elections website.
- In Person:
- Register in person at your county clerk’s office or during voter registration drives.
- You can also register at the DMV when applying for or renewing a driver’s license.
Registration Deadline:
- The deadline to register to vote in Kentucky is 29 days before Election Day.
Confirm Your Registration:
- After registering, you can confirm your voter registration status through the Voter Information Portal on the Kentucky State Board of Elections website.
