New Mexico residents can register to vote online, by mail, or in person. The state also allows same-day voter registration during early voting and on Election Day at polling places.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be a resident of New Mexico.
- Be at least 18 years old by Election Day (you can pre-register at 16 or 17).
- Not be convicted of a felony, unless voting rights have been restored.
- Not be declared mentally incompetent by a court.
Registration Methods:
- Online Registration:
- Register online using the New Mexico Voter Registration Portal.
- You will need a valid New Mexico driver’s license or state ID, or the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- By Mail:
- Complete the New Mexico Voter Registration Form.
- Mail the form to your county clerk’s office. County contact information is available on the New Mexico Secretary of State’s website.
- In Person:
- Register in person at your county clerk’s office, DMV, or at other authorized public assistance agencies.
- Same-day voter registration is available during early voting and on Election Day at polling places with valid identification and proof of residency.
Registration Deadline:
- The deadline to register online or by mail is 28 days before Election Day.
