North Dakota is unique in that it does not require voter registration. Instead, eligible voters simply need to show up at the polls with valid identification on Election Day or during early voting.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Be a resident of North Dakota.
- Be at least 18 years old by Election Day.
- Have lived in your voting precinct for at least 30 days before the election.
- Not be declared mentally incompetent by a court.
Voter Identification Requirements:
Since North Dakota does not require voter registration, you will need to bring valid identification when you vote. Acceptable forms of ID include:
- North Dakota driver’s license.
- Non-driver ID card issued by the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
- Tribal ID.
- Long-term care identification certificate.
